How You Can Help
The Need for Contribution
We achieved our fund-raising goal for 2005. "By demonstrating that local support exists, and it does, we'll be able to gain additional research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other federal and private out-of-state sources. As a society, we benefit from the research. As a state, we benefit from the millions of dollars brought in to the local economy" said Michael F. Meyer, Institute President and Board Chair.
"Funds raised by these generous contributors enable us to begin to recruit and develop teams of scientists and clinical investigators, supporting existing research in Arizona that focuses on child, adolescent, and adult mental health, brain disease and injury, schizophrenia, and mood disorders," said Dr. Alan J. Gelenberg, Professor and Head of the University of Arizona Department of Psychiatry, and Institute Vice President.
Those Who Do Contribute
The Institute for Mental Health Research (IHMR) has raised over $2 million in private sector and foundation funding, enabling the Institute to apply for State of Arizona matching dollars established by the Legislature in 2001. Contributors of cash, pledges, and in-kind services are listed on the right side of this page.
